All-department student seminar focuses on Salt Lake Temple renovations

The renovation of the historic Salt Lake Temple will require both civil engineers and construction managers.

Last week we held the first all-department student seminar since our two departments merged in 2021.

Representatives from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints came to talk about the foundation work on the historic Salt Lake Temple. They showed the engineering behind getting the temple to move as one giant piece in the event of an earthquake. Both engineering and construction management components of the project were discussed and it was a great way to see how the two majors can work together to accomplish amazing projects.

Dr. Franke and Dr. Weidman run the student seminar series for our degree programs (CE and CFM, respectively) and there will be more amazing events to come!
