Biography

Michael Bown is an Associate Professor in the Construction and Facilities Management program at Brigham Young University and is the coordinator for its Facility and Property Management track. He is co-founder and director of the Associated Schools of Facility Management, a commissioner on the Facility Management Accreditation Commission, and an ABET Program Evaluator.

Prior to coming to BYU, Michael was a Regional Account Director and a Global Alliance Director for outsourced FM accounts at CB Richard Ellis and Jones Lang LaSalle in Europe and Asia, serving Nestle (globally), Bank of America/Merrill Lynch (Europe), American Express (Asia/Oceania), and Shell (Asia/Oceania) as clients. Before joining the FM outsourcing industry, he spent 18 years with P&G in Germany and Switzerland, first as a manufacturing engineer and then taking on FM responsibilities.

Michael has extensive international experience, having lived outside the US for 35 years, working in Europe, Asia/Oceania, Latin America, and the Middle East. He has had FM responsibility for large complexes and portfolios as in-house operations, as outsourced operations from the client side, and as an outsourcing service provider. His experience covers headquarter sites, data centers, R&D centers, manufacturing plants, and distribution centers for consumer goods companies, banks, and the oil industry.
