    The Central Utah Water Conservancy District (District) is looking to hire students, particularly those studying civil engineering and construction management, for Asset Management / Engineering internship positions. Ideal candidates would be able to begin a summer internship as early as April 29th, 2024. Interns will work from the District’s Orem office (1426 E 750 N) and will have opportunities to go into the field. Duties include:

    • Collecting metadata for District infrastructure (e.g., locations, attributes, and media) and populating an electronic data registry

    • Assisting staff/project engineers with project management responsibilities, including the review of design drawing sets

    • Writing and editing technical documents with field operators and other full-time staff

    • Researching technical topics, writing reports, and giving presentations

    • Working with GIS staff to improve geographic accuracy on District assets

    • Reviewing construction project documents to facilitate cost estimating

    • Participating in project and facility inspections (e.g., dams, hydroelectric power plants, tunnels)

    Beginning in Fall 2024, Peer Mentors will be assigned to mentor students in the UNIV 101 Foundations for Student Success course, as well as mentor returning second-semester students. We are looking for mature, capable students who understand the skills and strategies that lead to academic success and who sincerely want to mentor and support new students. Peer mentors are not TAs and do not teach or provide support related to courts content. Instead, they are “generalists” in that they help students reflect on their experiences, access key campus resources (including faculty, TAs, and academic advisors), and develop general learning strategies that can be applied across various courses.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction or Civil Engineering, with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.
    • Candidates must have completed at least 1 year of study in their program.
    • Valid U.S. Driver’s License is required to regularly drive AECOM vehicles to project sites.
    • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
    • Frequent lifting, carrying, and loading of construction field equipment, such as nuclear density gauges, 5 gallon buckets (filled with soil samples), and wheelbarrows with concrete, of up to 50 pounds unassisted.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS).

    Permanent position and or Internship in the Sales, Estimating and Project Management of all types of commercial and residential roofing systems including, Single-ply roofing, metal roofing and metal wall panels, steep slope roofing, architectural sheet metal, etc..

    Qualifications/Education/Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience,
    • Ability to do electronic plan take-offs.
    • Good people skills, as some of our sales come from face-to-face contact with customers.
    • Roofing Experience in single-ply roofing, torch down roofing (modified bitumen), and shingles are helpful but not mandatory. It is understood that few will have these abilities.
    • Spanish Language proficiency would be most helpful especially in our Kennewick Location. 
    • Proficiency in CAD would also be a huge benefit.

      Salary/Benefits/Pay

    • Signing bonus to help with moving expenses - $7,500.00.
    • Salary between $66,000.00 and $85,000.00 depending on experience and capabilities.  If you have experience in management and or practical roofing/construction experience, we can negotiate a higher starting salary.

    • Personal use of a company provided pick-up truck with fuel privileges.
    • A generous Christmas Bonus - $10,000.00 - $15,000.00 has been the norm.
