    Federal Lands Highway (FLH) designs and oversees construction of roads, bridges, and trails in our public lands with the purpose of providing transportation engineering assistance for a safe, reliable, and resilient transportation system for all.

    M&M Cathodic Protection Service, Inc. is devoted to protecting the environment from fuel leaking out of tanks and piping systems. With operations covering 8 states, we are growing and in need of good people who are looking for a rewarding career, as opposed to a job. We are a small family owned & operated company that has been providing cathodic protection services for more than 35 years. We install, service, maintain and survey cathodic protection systems on fueling, piping, any other types of systems. Cathodic protection systems protect underground steel tanks, piping, and infrastructure from corroding.

In fact, the majority of our operations and senior managers started with the company in a technician role. Direct cathodic protection experience not necessary but must be able to demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude and/or a good understanding of electrical systems.     DUTIES & SKILLS:

    Working under the supervision of a manager to install, maintain, and test various types of cathodic protection systems. Wire splicing, thermite welding of bonds, installing ground beds, testing, troubleshooting, concrete cutting, wire running, conduit installation, etc. This position requires candidates to travel sometimes on a weekly basis. Out of town projects usually take 1-2 days not including travel time. These projects come attached with a generous bonus upon completion.

    • Division Street Bus Rapid Transit (Spokane, WA) Sight triangle analyses for a series of bus stops to be created along a principal arterial corridor.
    • Pacific Avenue Greenway (Spokane, WA) Prepared corridor analyses for preliminary design of trail alignments requiring significant walls routing adjacent a WSDOT bridge.

    Civil-Structural

    • Pepin Pine Street Bridge (Lynden, WA) Designed steel utility hanger to be mounted to side of voided slab girder bridge
    • Department of Natural Resources Bridge Load Ratings (WA State) Load rated around 7 bridges for this contract using PG super to analyze existing voided slab girder bridges and some steel girder bridges
    • Skagit River Painter (Skagit County, WA) Calculated steel surface areas for this steel truss bridge. Part of this contract was to submit total surface area to be painted by WSDOT.
    • Ironwood Bridge (Franklin County, WA) Load rated prestressed concrete girder bridge in PG super and drafted the load rating report.

    Are you a recent graduate or are you within one year of graduating from a Civil Engineering program? Are you looking for an opportunity to learn different areas of transportation engineering? If so, the Utah Department of Transportation's Engineering Rotational Program is for you. This is a four-year program for non-licensed engineers with limited engineering experience. You will learn engineering principles in a variety of areas including design, materials, hydraulics, planning, right-of-way, structures, traffic, construction, etc. You will then learn how to apply the knowledge and techniques of advanced mathematics and engineering to the planning, designing, development, and construction of transportation projects.

    Principal Duties
    As a Rotational Engineer, you will:

    • Participate in a variety of activities including feasibility, materials, research, design, concept and scoping, environmental, safety, specifications, schedules, revisions in the process of designing and developing engineering projects.
    • Participate in the planning, designing, construction and maintenance of facilities.
    • Monitor and evaluate contract/contractor performance to ensure compliance with contract; recommend action(s) to correct deficiencies.
    • Design, develop, and conduct a variety of research projects; determine appropriate methodologies, information sources, sampling strategies, and data-collection tools, etc.
    • Collect data and review research materials, determine accuracy and validity of sources and appropriateness for use.
    • Prepare engineering and design documents using computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
    • Write or draft technical reports, articles or related material based on research, investigation or analysis.

    Minimum Qualifications
    This position will be filled as either an Engineer I or Engineer II based on the criteria listed below. The hourly rate for the Engineer I is $35.05 and the hourly rate for the Engineer II is $39.26.

    • The qualifications for the Engineer I level are:
      • A bachelor's degree, or higher, in a Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
      • Proof of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE). 
    • The qualifications for the Engineer II level are:
      • A bachelor's degree, or higher, in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
      • Proof of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE).
      • At least two years of post-graduate engineering experience.

    Preferences

    Central Utah Water is looking to fill civil engineering internship positions starting at the end of April 2025 (one position) and the end of August 2025 (two positions). We will be leaving this advertisement up until the available positions are filled.

    The Central Utah Water Conservancy District (District) is looking to hire students, particularly those studying civil engineering and construction management, for Asset Management / Engineering internship positions. Ideal candidates would be able to begin a summer internship as early as April 28th, 2025 -or- a fall internship as early as August 25th, 2025. Interns will work from the District’s Orem office (1426 E 750 N) and will have opportunities to go into the field. Duties include:

    • Collecting metadata for District infrastructure (e.g., locations, attributes, and media) and populating an electronic data registry

    • Assisting civil engineers with project management responsibilities (e.g., drafting grant applications, preparing requests for proposals (RFPs), and reviewing contractor requests for information (RFIs) and submittals on active construction projects)

    • Writing and editing technical documents with field operators and other full-time staff

    We are seeking a motivated and innovative student to join our team as a Design and Construction Assistant for a project focused on developing a rangeland seed drill. The ideal candidate will work closely with our team to design, prototype, and construct a seed drill tailored to improve native plant establishment in rangelands and minelands. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in engineering, rangeland restoration, agriculture, or environmental conservation.

    The student will 1) collaborate with project leads and team members to brainstorm and develop design concepts for the seed drill, 2) assist in the fabrication and assembly of prototype components using a variety of materials and manufacturing techniques, and 3) work with the team to conduct tests and evaluations of prototype iterations to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.

    Preference will be given to students who have some basic experience in metal fabrication. The applicant should be willing to work at least 18 hours/week during the summer.
