Asset Management / Engineering internship

The Central Utah Water Conservancy District (District) is looking to hire students, particularly those studying civil engineering and construction management, for Asset Management / Engineering internship positions. Ideal candidates would be able to begin a winter internship as early as January 6th, 2025 -or- a summer internship as early as April 28th, 2025. Interns will work from the District’s Orem office (1426 E 750 N) and will have opportunities to go into the field. Duties include:

• Collecting metadata for District infrastructure (e.g., locations, attributes, and media) and populating an electronic data registry

• Assisting civil engineers with project management responsibilities (e.g., drafting grant applications, preparing requests for proposals (RFPs), and reviewing contractor requests for information (RFIs) and submittals on active construction projects)

• Writing and editing technical documents with field operators and other full-time staff

• Researching technical topics and writing reports

• Working with GIS analysts to improve geographic accuracy on District assets

Federal Lands Highway (FLH) designs and oversees construction of roads, bridges, and trails in our public lands with the purpose of providing transportation engineering assistance for a safe, reliable, and resilient transportation system for all.

Student Design and Construction Assistant - Rangeland Seed Drill Project

We are seeking a motivated and innovative student to join our team as a Design and Construction Assistant for a project focused on developing a rangeland seed drill. The ideal candidate will work closely with our team to design, prototype, and construct a seed drill tailored to improve native plant establishment in rangelands and minelands. Project Manager for Multi-Tenant Small Bay Industrial
We seek a detail-oriented, experienced, organized Construction Project Manager to join our growing team. In this position, you will coordinate and oversee the renovation process from conception to completion. You will work directly with property managers, architects, engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the FlexShops standards. 

Job Description
We seek an experienced and detail-oriented Project Manager for Multi-Tenant Small Bay Industrial to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will lead, coordinate, implement, and oversee various renovation projects in apartment complexes. This position requires exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills to ensure that each project is executed within the prescribed budget, time, and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

Project Planning:

1. Develop and implement comprehensive project goals and objectives, including scope, budget, and schedule.
2. Determine and allocate resources, including manpower, materials, and equipment.
3. Oversee the planning and implementation of construction projects.
4. Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements.
5. Manage and supervise construction procedures and processes to ensure compliance with regulations and quality standards.
6. Monitor project progress regularly and make detailed scheduled reports on measurable items, such as milestones and deliverables.
7. Manage the budget, track project costs, and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the project is completed within the financial plan.
8. Ensure all work is completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with building and safety regulations.
9. Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders about progress and any changes or issues.
10. Regularly meet with the project team and stakeholders to provide updates and address concerns.
11. Oversee project closeout, including conducting post-project evaluation and identifying successful project elements and areas for improvement.
12. Manage repair and maintenance request from current tenants through 3^rd party vendors.

Coordination & Communication:

1. Act as the primary liaison between clients, architects, subcontractors, and team members.
2. Conduct regular project meetings to ensure all stakeholders know about progress, challenges, and changes.

Quality Assurance:

1. Monitor the construction process to ensure adherence to all local building codes, regulations, and quality standards.
2. Regularly inspect renovation work and collaborate with quality control personnel.

Risk Management:

1. Identify potential risks and implement proactive strategies to mitigate those risks.
2. Address issues that arise promptly and devise solutions in consultation with relevant parties.

Budget Control:

1. Oversee budget and financial aspects of the project, including estimates, billing, and cost tracking.
2. Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to ensure value.

Reporting:

1. Prepare detailed progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
2. Complete project documentation, including final reports and recommendations for future projects.

Estimating:

1. Prepare detailed project estimates for new projects as well as change orders.
2. Walk current and new projects with subcontractors to obtain the best possible price to prepare estimates.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or over 5 yrs experience.
2. Knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
3. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
4. Excellent knowledge of construction material, equipment, project management, and quality assurance processes.
5. Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
6. Strong financial and budgeting skills.
7. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
8. Bilingual- English / Spanish a plus.

POSITION: Seasonal Construction Intern - Summer 2025
LOCATION: South Area Construction - Orem, UT

POSITION SUMMARY: Interns will be mentored by project managers and will assist these project managers in all aspects of construction work.

DUTIES:
· Assist project managers in bidding, planning, and executing the work on various construction projects.
· Projects will include asphalt paving, concrete paving, micro-surfacing, chip seal, excavation grading, and utility work.
· Position may require night work.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Each applicant should be enrolled in an accredited civil engineering or construction management program at a sophomore level or higher.
· Applicants should demonstrate effective communication and organization skills, and the ability to quickly learn and understand the technical aspects of construction projects.
· Ability to learn and understand plans, specifications, schedules, estimates, quantity calculations, and accounting procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/SAFETY:
