(Posted 10/3/24)The Central Utah Water Conservancy District (District) is looking to hire students, particularly those studying civil engineering and construction management, for Asset Management / Engineering internship positions. Ideal candidates would be able to begin a winter internship as early as January 6th, 2025 -or- a summer internship as early as April 28th, 2025. Interns will work from the District’s Orem office (1426 E 750 N) and will have opportunities to go into the field. Duties include:
• Collecting metadata for District infrastructure (e.g., locations, attributes, and media) and populating an electronic data registry
• Assisting civil engineers with project management responsibilities (e.g., drafting grant applications, preparing requests for proposals (RFPs), and reviewing contractor requests for information (RFIs) and submittals on active construction projects)
• Writing and editing technical documents with field operators and other full-time staff
• Researching technical topics and writing reports
• Working with GIS analysts to improve geographic accuracy on District assets
• Reviewing construction project documents to facilitate cost estimating

The window of employment for the positions covers two semesters and varies based on the start date: winter (January-August 2025) and summer (May-December 2025). Interns are expected to work 15 or more hours per week during non-summer months (January-April and September-December) and 40 hours per week during summer months (May-August). We accomplish this by delivering projects from inception to completion. With operations covering 8 states, we are growing and in need of good people who are looking for a rewarding career, as opposed to a job. We are a small family owned & operated company that has been providing cathodic protection services for more than 35 years. We install, service, maintain and survey cathodic protection systems on fueling, piping, any other types of systems. Cathodic protection systems protect underground steel tanks, piping, and infrastructure from corroding.
Perhaps you served our country in the armed forces, we welcome you and salute your service! We're looking for hard working, talented people to learn and grow with us. In fact, the majority of our operations and senior managers started with the company in a technician role. Direct cathodic protection experience not necessary but must be able to demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude and/or a good understanding of electrical systems. Must have ability to travel (though we are usually not gone for more than a few days). We offer all necessary training and technical certification training (once you’ve completed field training and demonstrated aptitude) and pay you from day one. DUTIES & SKILLS:
Working under the supervision of a manager to install, maintain, and test various types of cathodic protection systems. Wire splicing, thermite welding of bonds, installing ground beds, testing, troubleshooting, concrete cutting, wire running, conduit installation, etc. This position requires candidates to travel sometimes on a weekly basis. Out of town projects usually take 1-2 days not including travel time. These projects come attached with a generous bonus upon completion.

Assist in the coordinating, designing, developing, and constructing of the City infrastructure. Serve as an engineering project leader or manager on smaller projects. Provide independent interpretation and execution of policies governing the City engineering. This position will be focused on traffic and transportation engineering for the City.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the direction of the City Engineer but may also receive direction from a higher-level City Engineer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensures compliance with codes and standards; screens for traffic, parking, drainage, right-of-way, and special planning commission action requirements (annexations, zone changes, special use permits, etc.). May train other contractors and City staff on code compliance.
- May assist and direct roadway design plans under the supervision of the City Engineer.
- Work to create roadway signing and striping plans as directed by City Engineer.
- Conducts engineering division reviews and approvals of commercial and residential project plans and construction drawings during the development review process. Including reviewing transportation infrastructure plans to ensure adherence to City Standards, MUTCD, AASHTO, and ITE Manuals.
- Completes preliminary designs of utility systems; aids in establishing City master plan for various infrastructure systems, including the Transportation Master Plan.
- Prepares preliminary and final construction plans for roadway, water, sewer, and storm drainage capital improvement projects for the City; ensures correct calculations and measurements.
- Develops design plans for field survey data. Ensures correct statistics and data to make recommendations on designs and plans.
- Coordinates a variety of operations and projects related to traffic and signalization project design and management, infrastructure analysis and public works systems. Prioritizes projects and prepares engineering reviews.
- Serves as liaison with Federal, State, County, and local jurisdictions; represents the City as staff to various commissions and task forces.
- May administer multi-departmental committee meetings such as the Traffic Committee, including receiving and responding to public feedback.

The ideal candidate will work closely with our team to design, prototype, and construct a seed drill tailored to improve native plant establishment in rangelands and minelands. Awardco, located in Lindon, Utah, is seeking a part-time Maintenance Technician Intern to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
What you will do:
-Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks on various equipment and machinery, as outlined by the Facility Maintenance Manager.
-Help install office furnishings, materials and equipment.
-Conduct inspections to identify potential issues and take corrective actions to prevent equipment failures.
-Perform minor adjustments and repairs to equipment, ensuring functionality and safety.
-Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment by adhering to established safety protocols and housekeeping standards.
-May be required to operate various tools and equipment in the performance of their duties.

This position requires exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills to ensure that each project is executed within the prescribed budget, time, and quality standards.Responsibilities:
Project Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive project goals and objectives, including scope, budget, and schedule.
- Determine and allocate resources, including manpower, materials, and equipment.

Reporting:

Estimating:
- Prepare detailed project estimates for new projects as well as change orders.
- Walk current and new projects with subcontractors to obtain the best possible price to prepare estimates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or over 5 yrs experience.
- Knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of construction material, equipment, project management, and quality assurance processes.
